The projects
Eden have built every project from what others have said that they need. We ask the right people the right questions and then we put the wheels in motion to 'make life better'. Talk to us; we want to listen...
Schools – Every primary school in Dartford has access to Eden. Our counsellors work in 23 primary schools in Dartford, 4 primary schools in Sevenoaks and 1 Academy in Dartford. We are continually adding more to the list of organisations and individuals that we support. Some sessions are funded by Kent County Council and Social Services, others are funded by the school and some have even been paid for by the school Governors!
Group work – Transition, self-harm, managing anger, building confidence, relaxation....are just a few of the groups that can be written and delivered to meet your specific requirements. Dartford Borough Council Member's Grants are funding 2 pilot groups to be delivered in 2011.
Single Point of Access (SPA) – By attending the SPA meetings in Dartford, we ensure that as many children and young people as possible can access our service
Outreach – Our counsellors are happy to come to you! We will work with you to develop the best way that we can provide the support you need.
Centre-based – The Eden centre is themed to help you feel at home. A special young lady called Lucy created the reception to look and feel like a welcoming country living room, "like Nan's house" she called it. The play therapy room is designed to feel like sitting in the clouds and another counselling/meeting room is like a trip to the sea-side. Everything has been designed to add calm, fun and comfort into a visit to Eden, in fact most people don't want to leave!
Training – Attachment, child development, addictions, trauma, art & anger, understanding Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) & Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD )......are just some of the workshops that we offer. We are happy to develop training and workshops for children, young people, families and professionals.
Consultancy/Supervision – Schools have asked us to provide supervision and consultancy to various staff who may feel the need for specialist support for their challenging roles, especially working directly with families or they may really appreciate a counsellor with specialist emotional health knowledge to give some insight or advice into specific situations.
DOVE – This project specialises in working with victims of domestic violence. By working in partnership with North Kent Women's Aid, we provide specialist counselling and support to children and women in 4 refuges and at a local Children's Centre.
Eden Parents – Providing counselling for parents in parallel to their child's counselling sessions, has benefited the child and parent enormously. Schools now buy-in this service, which has been fully supported and recommended by the Family Liaison Officers/Parent Support Advisors.
Eden Families – Our new Family Therapy service is currently being piloted. This will be fully available from Summer 2011.
Qwizdom Consultancies – 'Who wants to be a millionaire' type handsets generated much excitement amongst the 350 pupils (year 3 –year 13) that took part in our consultation to find out exactly what they felt about themselves, school, family, friendships, fears, and their futures! This not only gave invaluable information to the school, helped the participants feel listened to, but also helped us to plan our future strategy and now underpins all of our new services. Let us know if you would like more information.
Looked After Children – A specialist project to support Looked-after children is currently in the Eden pipeline.
Other future projects include – Working with c & yp in the following areas:
  • With Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Who are home educated/out of school
  • By helping their parents/families
  • Encouraging relaxation and mindfulness
If you would like a specific service, contact us to discuss how we can work in partnership.
